Responsibilities:
- Support of Classroom AV systems (Crestron DMPS controlled)
- Provide technical assistance to faculty, staff, and others using classroom AV systems upon request.
- Diagnose and perform basic troubleshooting/repair of systems.
- Perform basic maintenance tasks such as: projector lamp replacement, substitutions, etc.
- Schedule and perform regular check-ups to verify correct performance.
- Dialogue with AV vendors as necessary to ensure proper maintenance.
- Coordinate shipping and receiving of units needing repair.
- Maintain repair records and inventory of all systems.
- Provide support to faculty and staff users of audio and video equipment
- Fulfill requests for short-term equipment loans and deliver equipment to users as necessary.
- Provide technical assistance as needed.
- Verify return of equipment in proper condition.
- Maintain a log of loans and returns.
- Assist and complement audio and video engineers in Recording and Sound Reinforcement tasks
- Participate in setups and strikes for all types of events.
- Operate HD video camera for multi-camera video recording and live streaming.
- Troubleshoot audio and video equipment during rehearsals, sound checks, and events.
- Audio/video recording of small-scale live events.
- Work as live sound mixer for simple events requiring sound reinforcement.
- Edit audio and/or video recordings for release to clients and the community.
- Supervise work-study students who are assisting with technical tasks.
- Maintain a detailed and accurate inventory of microphones and all other recording equipment.
- Manage the workshop area and storage of equipment.
- Perform related duties as assigned to support school and department operations.
Qualifications:
- Two or more years AV and/or recording experience or equivalent.
- BFA, BS, or BA degree preferred.
- Interest in Classical and Jazz music required; ability to read music is a plus, but not required.
- Strong technical skills in analog and digital electronics and logical approach to problem solving.
- Familiarity with networking technology preferred.
- Experience using industry-standard audio and video workstation software, such as Pro Tools and Final Cut Pro, strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required, including the ability to write email correspondence with appropriate style and tone.
- Must possess an excellent customer service ethic and situational awareness.
- Able and willing to work standard 8:30 am to 4:30 pm schedule and also extended hours, nights, and weekends as needed.
- Ability and desire to learn and apply new skills.
- Reliable, responsible, and punctual.
