Sammie Wallinga (She/Her)
Studio Manager & Studio Engineer
If it’s loud, weird, or emotionally devastating, Sammie’s probably into it. A guitarist, drummer, producer, and mix engineer with a deep love for all things heavy and handmade, she brings a musician’s soul and an engineer’s precision to every session—and she’s never met a fuzz pedal or strange mic placement she didn’t want to try.
She’s a classically trained percussionist who grew up gigging in punk and jazz bands, and she’s been on a lifelong quest to find the weird little sounds that make a song feel true. Originally from Chicago, Sammie spent nearly a decade in IT and software engineering before making the financially questionable but spiritually correct decision to go all-in on music. Over the years, she’s played everything from experimental art-rock to sludge metal, and currently plays in three active bands. A former WAM intern, Sammie sharpened her engineering chops at the legendary Record Plant in Sausalito, and thrives on collaboration, experimentation, and a little joyful chaos.
As Studio Manager and Staff Engineer at WAM, Sammie keeps the sessions smooth, the gear humming, and the interns happily over-informed. She’s especially passionate about supporting queer artists and creating a recording environment where everyone feels safe turning up and getting weird.
