Senior Manager, Podcast Growth Development, Conde Nast- New York, NY


Conde Nast is extending into audio and looking for a Marketing and Growth Lead to develop and grow the audience, engagement, and loyalty for Conde Nast podcasts. We are seeking a data driven self-starter to help build our audio initiative from the ground up at Conde Nast. The Marketing and Growth Lead should have deep podcasting knowledge on audience development, cross-promotional management, marketing strategies, and platform partnership management.

Our top podcasts include “Broken Harts” from Glamour, “Foodcast” from Bon Appetit, “Inside the Hive” featuring Nick Bilton from Vanity Fair, “Gadget Lab” from Wired, and “The New Yorker Radio Hour” from The New Yorker.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead, develop and execute effective initiatives and marketing / promotional plans to grow the Conde Nast podcast footprint — introduce Conde Nast content to new listeners, increase engagement, and build loyalty to retain existing listeners

    • Understand listener lifecycles, and develop and execute listener acquisition, retention and winback strategies

    • Manage audience development testing strategies (including funnel optimization, distribution channel mix, headline and image optimization)

    • Leverage a mix of organic, earned and paid tactics (e.g., cross-promotions, barters with other networks, podcast app platform promotions, email, newsletters, social, print, video, digital, PR, and SEO) and ideate new / creative strategies and channels to drive success

    • Monitor performance of all shows and provide regular reporting to team

    • Identify new growth opportunities and emerging trends

    • Work with Business Intelligence team to establish dashboard for podcasting data and analysis

  • Maintain close relationships with key partners at Apple, Spotify, Google, Pandora, iHeart, etc and establish periodic partnership meetings to pitch programming, and discuss promotional opportunities, upcoming content, and areas for growth

  • Develop and manage a Conde Nast Podcast Network for cross-promotional purposes; monitor performance and optimize for success

    • Create, gather and manage assets for promotional campaigns

  • Work cross functionally with various marketing, analytics, aud dev, social, editorial, product, and sales teams to identify opportunities, execute initiatives, and maximize growth

  • Meet and exceed established KPIs, including those set for advertiser and sponsor satisfaction

  • Apply robust data mining and data gathering techniques to identify and interpret listener patterns and trends, and optimize marketing executions based on learnings

What you’ll bring:

  • 3 to 5+ years in podcast audience development, growth, and content strategy

  • High analytical, quantitative, nimble, creative, and critical thinking

  • Application of data mining and testing in the decision making process to identify and interpret information needed to optimize for success

  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding business goals, with an ability to produce thoughtful reporting and present feedback and recommendations to key stakeholders

  • Ability to advise on editorial content strategies and development of content distribution plans

  • Experience using podcast hosting and ad serving platforms such as Megaphone

    • Ability to use analytic tools to create user segmentation and cohorts

  • Advanced user of Google spreadsheets and proficiency with other tools including Google Sheets and Keynote

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, be solution-oriented, meet deadlines and be dependable

  • A passion for podcasting and Conde Nast titles

  • Proficiency with industry standard analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Omniture) as well as custom platform reporting (e.g., Facebook Insights, Twitter Analytics) (preferred)

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, analytics, communications, science, business, finance, statistics, or related area (preferred)
