Local Sirens is a free, quarterly performance series featuring incredible local women musicians and performers. This time, Local Sirens will feature Bay Area favorites:
Chhoti Maa  CHHOTI MAA was born out of a tradition of migrants in Guanajuato and forced by the Mexican post-NAFTA exodus into movement. Her raps have roots in her grandmothers poetic recitation and in Mexican oral tradition. She developed through poetry and got training in gospel and soul singing in Albany, Georgia. CHHOTI MAA’s music deals with decolonial living, migrant swag and reconstructing the womyn temple. CHHOTI MAA is a cultural producer-organizer, educator, bruja, writer and artist.
Humid – A five-piece all-female rock group from San Francisco with members of Silver Shadows, Ancinet Wing, Vela Eyes, Part/Human, the Spyrals, the list. goes. on.
Kohinoorgasm – aka Josephine Shetty, is a Bay Area–based producer and vocalist whose sound can best be described as a sensual dreamsicle. Shetty loops simple, one-note beats on top of echoes of her voice. She often repeats the same lyrics over and over again till you are bumping and humming under the cloud of noise she made for you. It is intimate and sultry.
Otzi – “The dark and (heavy on the) dreamy side of post-punk” – Maximum RocknRoll
