WAM LA Mini Internship

We are excited to launch a pilot internship program in Los Angeles, modeled after the internship program currently running in San Francisco. The WAM Internship program is widely recognized in the audio and music production industries for the caliber of training, range of activities, overall experience, as well as job placement opportunities. Past interns have gone on to positions with such companies as Dolby, Pixar, Apple, Sony, Google, and Pandora. The objective is to expand WAM’s reach and impact within the audio industry by creating new opportunities for emerging audio professionals in LA.

WAM Internship Program Goals:

  • Build confidence, communication skills, and personal versatility to prepare for jobs in the audio industry.
  • Develop interpersonal connections for industry networking and community support to create career pathways for future employment opportunities.
  • Gain hands-on studio training to prepare as entry-level engineering assistants or for other audio roles in live or studio work.
  • Learn how to teach and share audio skills and knowledge to further support the WAM mission.

  • Application Opens: September 17th, 2024

  • Internship Dates: November 1st – December 13th, 2024

Is this Internship a fit for you?

The Internship is open to women (transgender or cisgender) and non-binary/gender-expansive individuals, and it is recommended for those 21 years and older. You must be a resident of the Southern California area. We are unable to accept international applicants at this time.

All applicants must ensure that they are available for all the dates and hours required to fulfill the internship duties.


REQUIRED SCHEDULE:

  • Intern Workshops: Fridays, 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm – Skills Workshops in LA
  • Intern Virtual Activities: Flexible activities can be completed on your own schedule.
  • Industry Tours and Networking Events: Mondays or Wednesdays

Please note: Most programs and workshops will take place in Los Angeles. Occasionally, we may have events in nearby areas.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engage in career development activities, including professional development & studio intern workshops
  • Participate in tours with local LA audio industry leaders to gain insights into different career paths
  • Assist with events and sessions as needed, which may include logistical support and setup.
  • Take initiative in learning and developing skills relevant to the audio industry.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • A minimum of 1 year of audio education or equivalent experience.
  • Support WAM’s mission to change the face of audio.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Proficiency in using a standard computer (Mac or PC).
  • Proficiency in operating a standard computer (Mac or PC).
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
  • You are a resident of the Los Angeles area at the time of applying.

NOTE ABOUT EMPLOYMENT AND PAY:

This is an unpaid internship with a stipend of $500 available upon completion of the Internship for those who have completed the program and the required intern hours. This is not paid work and does not constitute employment. Women’s Audio Mission is an equal employment opportunity employer.
