Secretly Group Seeks a Business Affairs Attorney for Brooklyn, NY or Bloomington, IN Office

Company Summary: 
SG Services Inc. (dba Secretly Group) Business Affairs department provides global business and legal affairs support to the Secretly-affiliated companies, including independent music labels Dead Oceans, Jagjaguwar, Secretly Canadian and The Numero Group, as well as independent music distributor Secretly Distribution, artist management company Fort William Artist Management and independent music publishing company Secretly Publishing.
Position Overview: 
This position reports to their General Counsel. This role is a full time entry level position in their Business Affairs department. This role can be based in either their Bloomington, IN office or Brooklyn, NY office. The Business Affairs Attorney will provide support to General Counsel and handle a variety of assigned legal projects within the Business Affairs department. The Business Affairs attorney will draft and negotiate contracts, deal memos, publishing agreements, and agreements pertaining to live / concert recordings. This role will also oversee infringement cases and manage work-for-hire agreements for assets such as music videos and artwork.
Responsibilities will include: 
  • Publishing agreements
  • One-off master licensing agreement
  • Obtaining mechanical licenses
  • Live recording agreements
  • Asset agreements
The ideal candidate will have :
  • Current license to practice law
  • 1-2 years experience in music/entertainment
  • Have strong drafting and organization skills
  • Confidence in negotiating deals
  • Professional attitude with a strong sense of discretion
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Adaptable to fast paced environment with multiple deadlines
