WAM Academy Scholarship

 

SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY

We invite anyone who is:

  • a woman/gender-expansive person AND
  • Black, Indigenous, or Person of Color AND
  • able to attend all classes in-person

    Due to funding, preference will be given to San Francisco residents.

To apply for this full scholarship opportunity to attend WAM’s upcoming WAM Academy.

This scholarship is supported by the San Francisco Arts Commission in order to help WAM meet its mission of diversifying the audio field.

Level 1 – Basic Audio Production – Hybrid Foundational Course
This hybrid foundational-level course provides the necessary audio skills for basic recording, production, and digital technologies.
Instructor: Heidi Trefethen
Tuesdays: 2/7, 2/14, 2/21, 2/28, 3/7, 3/21
Time: 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm PT
Location: This course will be taught in a hybrid format via Zoom and at our WAMO facility, located at 1900 Fruitvale Ave, Unit 3A, 3rd floor, Oakland.
Pro Tools Fundamentals 101 Included! (Tuesday–Wednesday: 3/14–15, see more below)

Level 2a – Studio Recording & Production
Including Large Format Console Signal Flow & Patchbays, Auxes & Inserts, Headphone Mixes, and Mic placement techniques.
Instructor: Mary Ann Zahorsky
Tuesdays: 3/28–4/25
Time: 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm PT
Location: WAM’s SF Recording Studio at 542 Natoma St, San Francisco, CA 94103.

Level 2b – Mixing & Signal Processing
EQ, Dynamic, and Time-based processing with hands-on access to Pro Tools at our WAMO Oakland facility.

Tuesdays: 5/2 – 5/23
Time: 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm PT

Pro Tools Fundamentals PT101
Introduces fundamental Pro Tools concepts and principles, covering everything an individual needs to know to complete a basic Pro Tools project, from initial setup to final mixdown. This course follows the curriculum from PT 12.8 / PT101. NOTE: This class is included in Level 1.

Time: 10am–6pm PT
